My friend told me today that Ed Bishop (UFO, Capt Scarlet) passed away last week - this is news to me as I've not heard anything in the media about this - can anyone confirm this?

Great programme, even have the theme as my mobile ringtone

Ed Bishop, Britain's very own 'Stock American actor' in the 70s

    What a shame :(

I saw 2 of the cars from the show live and one was not that good in real life the exterior was OK but the interior was totally impractical seem to remember the steering wheel was on a very, very long 2 prong column meeting the steering wheel where you grip it rather than in the centre.

Got the box set of 1-4 of UFO today (I already had 5-8). Will crack it open and sink a pint to Ed Bishop, and Michael Billington. I just hope I do not get upset.

Sad indeed, he couldn't have been very old. I loved UFO and always try to catch any repeats. Does anyone remember Ed Bishop in a one-off drama called 'Mad Death' (?) about a bloke who gets rabies. Chilling stuff. I can't remember who wrote it, but it reminds me of Kit Pedler's Doomwatch stuff.

Yes I think I metioned it in the obit page. It was a 3 parter and griping stuff seem to think it was a f** that did it, but shhh that could be a spoiler. ;)

It is really spooky that they died within a few days of each other, especially as Michael Billington was so much younger than Ed Bishop...

I'm very sad as they were the two coolest tv actors from that era as far as I was concerned, because UFO was by far and away the best Gerry Anderson series IMO.

Back in them days the stars did a lot of their own (non-CGI/wire assisted) stunts and any male actor worth their salt was pretty tasty in a fight!

May they both rest in that great Moonbase in the, er, sky.
