Full story and images on my blog.

Here's a sample that I thought worked well with the theme.
Fuji X-E1 and XF60mm macro.

Good shot Pete, and an interesting blog write up too. I particularly like the 2nd and 5th shots on the blog :smashin:

In terms of the shot in this thread, whilst I think it is very good and certainly suits the pp, I may have been tempted to make more of the fact that he is writing home to his sweetheart - perhaps eyes down as he writes? Also not sure that it needs as much grass in the foreground, perhaps nearer a squarer crop? Just me thoughts anyway :)

Good ideas Tony... he wasn't at my disposal for a long period and the first thing I told him to do was look up. He was eyes down pretending to write and it just didn't work as he had to tilt his head also. The hat cast a significant shadow, I couldn't see his eyes well and I didn't want him to remove his hat.
The foreground thing is just down to preference. There's always going to be differing opinion as we all have our own views. I liked the sense of sitting out somewhere in a field, an openness, rather than a crop. It's usually my preference to stay tight to the subject, but not in this case.

I have never taken a perfect shot and I never will, but like the fish that got away it's a desire to reach the unreachable that keeps me going....and learning (that will never stop either).

Pete.
