Title says it all, really. If I want some kind of interactive challenge then I turn on my PS2. Seems to me these things are created so that internet communities sprout up to discuss them. If I've paid for a disc then I expect to have access to all of its content without resorting to a trawl of the net to find out how. Fricking pointless.
Plasma I'm with you on this. Spending twenty minutes trying to highlight every bleedin' symbol, and checking out the makeup artists credits just to see if a thirty second gag reel is hidden there is a pain in the arse.
Sorry sarge - I'm sure that's very funny, but the sublety has gone way over my head. Could you explain?
I don't think the White Rabbit thing was, strictly, an Easter egg (correct me if I'm wrong). That extra is visible from the extras menu. I'm talking about all the hidden stuff.
Plasma I find myself agreeing again Extras are cetainly an integral part of the DVD experience but hiding material on the disc does not add to the experience at all. It's like the studio wants you to earn the right to see some production stills. Why???? I earned the money that bought the disc and that should be enough.....
Doc. That is a bit harsh. Maybe they just see it as a bit of extra fun for people. I myself think they are quite good. It's like Microsoft always have little bits hidden in their software (excluding bugs that is )
Perhaps this is true when you consider that many Easter eggs aren't worth getting out of bed for. However, consider Memento: there's an egg in there which is basically the whole film re-cast in chronological order. That's 1 hour and 40 minutes of extra material that (IMO) is well worth watching. The distributor has gone to the trouble of telling us the DVD contains an Easter egg (there's a sticker on the case) but they don't tell you how to get to it. Why not?
It's not a true Easter egg anyway. To get this, you just have to answer the questions from the quiz correctly. Nothing wrong with that! I have a link to a Memento booklet on the web that you can print out and stick inside your case if you want. It's exactly the right size to fit in the case and tells you how to get to everything
I didn't have to answer any questions. All I was instructed to do was wait until the spiralling polaroids finish, then press Enter before they re-start. I'm interested in the link, though, Squirrel.
Ah so they have! He got aggressive in the Special Offers forum yesterday, Spectre must've deleted his account
Sounds like you have the single disk R2 and not the R1 2-disk Limited Edition. Booklet is only for the Limited Edition. Booklet here: http://world.std.com/~trystero/Memento_LE.html On the Ltd Ed, it plays the entire movie in chronological order from end to start, not just single scenes Canadian R1 is also supposed to have an extra Easter egg not found on the US release
Single disc R2 is correct. Now you've got me depressed. So much for research. Mind you, the R2 was great value IMO. I think I paid £7-8.
OK. First of all I really like the eastereggs on DVD. I think it adds to the fun and also benefits the format. But I also understand people who don't like it. And In that case I can only refer to the french Dark City(brilliant set with english DTS btw) The menu looks like the streets in darkcity, where u wander around to get to the extras, sceneselections and so on. BUT u can also just select a basic menu where all the extras and everything else is listed. I think the should do this for all DVDS where they put eastereggs. I have never seen the R1 of memento (UKR2 for me) so I don't know how hard it is to find the extras there. I think that at startup the should give us the choice between "plain and simple menus" and "interactive eggsearch mode" that way everyone is happy.( yet I know that that would also annoy people asthey don't get "their"menu straight away) Alternatively u can always select easter eggs with the title and chapterselect on the remote. The bloopers on Starwars are all (EP1 and EP2) at title 15. HTH
