    Hi all,

We don't have live TV and thus a tv licence but wanted to record some TV programs that are on catch up TV but as these are only available for a certain amount of time we might want to refer back to them so need to keep them somewhere.

Can anyone help us with a way or device that could help us do this but doesn't give us access to live TV so that we stay within the TV license law.

    Hope this makes sense

    Kind regards Mark

If they are catchup programmes then I believe you now need a TV license

But only the BBC iPlayer's content now requires a TV licence. The rest don't.

Only true if you are talking about FTA set top boxes. I have used over the last 3 years three methods of recording catchup programmes
1 Sky HD+ box BUT does require sub and TV license
2 Laptop with HDMI output and appropriate streaming capture software
3 AnyHD HD USB video recorder which will record video output of any device (composite, component or HDMI defeating HDCP) - purchased 3 years ago at £150 - there are cheaper alternatives to capture to USB and record on PC. Also possible to record to an external DVD recorder (note most recent DVD recorders do not have external inputs to record from) on reusable DVD RW discs
