    Hi, can anyone help!?

I'm trying to transfer my wifes data from her Samsung S8 to iPhone Xr but for some reason it just won't work via the Move to IoS app- I get the code, I put it in but it never connects.

Both phones are on the same WiFi - I've noticed the Xr WiFi symbol switches off when I go into the transfer mode...I'm not sure if that's normal?

Any ideas? Alternatively what's the best way to move phones please?

It depends on what it is that you want to move...I keep my stuff in the cloud so it is no different than just logging into the same cloud providers...

If the number stays the same Whats app messages should reappear if I'm not mistaken. It does that on my desktop WhatsApp as well, and did the same when I moved from my Nokia to iPhone again.

Yeah, that's what I thought (and what happened when we switched phones android to android - but this time it didn't happen...it asked if I wanted to download messages from icloud but coming from an android I clicked no, weird but I just assume an issue transferring from android to iPhone...

Hmm maybe I was wrong and what it did was download my previous iPhone messages only and not the recent Android Nokia ones. Sorry.

You can't easily move messages on WhatsApp from Android to iOS. Usually it requires downloading a program to do it.

If it asked you to restore a back-up, it was from the last back-up you had when using an iOS device with that mobile number. It's odd, seeing as Facebook own it, that they haven't implemented a way for messages to be available across both. Perhaps with Facebook's upcoming "merging" of Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram that will finally be fixed.

WhatsApp on Android backs up to Google and WhatsApp on iOS backs up to iCloud. The WhatsApp developers have not shown any interest in cross-platform compatibility before selling out to Facebook so who knows whether Facebook will sort it out

Any software that claims to transfer WhatsApp Android messages to iOS and vice versa is spam and treated as such on this site :D
