Hi all, can anybody please help,

I have now tried 3 times on 3 different disc`s (all Samsung DVD-R) to finalize a dv-r straight after dubbing from HDD to DVD-R without success.
I have gone to the "Finalize" and it comes up with "Finalizing Disc", the blue bar gets about a 1/3 of the way across and then the message
"Finalizing Has Failed Please Press ENTER".
When ENTER is pressed screen goes back to tv.
The disc will play in the E85 but not on anything else.

Could this be the Samsung media or am I doing something wrong or could it be the E85 when Finalizing.

    Good question! Anybody?
I have had this a couple of times with my E85 using the Bulkpak discs.

    Lazzer,
I have not manage to do any yet, these were my first 3 attempts, hence why I was wondering if it is me or not or a bad m/c. Will try some different media other the Samsung and Bulkpak.
    Anybody any other thoughts please.

This happened to me once on my Panny E100, so I removed the disc, replaced it and tried again. It worked fine the second time.

Whether or not you could do this, I don't know, but it's worth a try. Best of luck.

This sounds like a media incompatibility problem - if you get issues like this just switch to a new brand of disks!

I've had an amazing success rate with my DVD-R burning: had the machine since it was launched in the UK and not a single failure. I've used Imation, Sony and Memorex discs, must have burned 60+ discs, all fine.

I've never burned direct from broadcast: always to the HDD first, edit, then burn. Most of my burning has been high speed transfer, though recently I've opted for real time more to preserve the 16:9 ratio.

I think you may have poor media. With DVD-Rs now priced less than 50p each on a spindle for a reputable brand it's worth finding a reliable brand and sticking with it. Can't comment on Samsung, but you can get Pioneer-badged Ritek discs for 28p per disc from www.disccity.co.uk which makes them look very attractive as a place to start.
