I have decide to go for Sky+ for the initial recording but was wondering which DVD recorder to pair with it for archive purposes. I am currently considering the Panny E65 and the Tosh D-R3. The Tosh has -RW capability over the Panny but the E65 has the photo card slots.

Apart from this are there any distinct advantages of one over the other e.g. PQ, editing abilities.

    Thanks

The E65 is the superior machine: better PQ, component, progressive scan, PC/SD Card slots, DVD-Audio (2 Channel). Other features - including editting - is similiar. DVD-RW support is what will make your decision for you I should imagine - either you want it or you don't.

    Rasczak.
Is it confirmed then, that the DR3 doesn't have component or prog scan?
    Thanks in advance.

The European version does - but given the reports of everyone who has had a UK version saying it doesn't I am assuming there is a model out there without PS/component - thus am not going to recommend it as a feature. If you opt for a Grey import then you can get PS/component on the Toshiba - but I'm not going to start recommending that!

    Thanks for the replies.

Having just bought a Philips 32PW9509 PS and component are not top priorities at the moment. However, I am one of the many who have a faulty tube and would like to exchange it for a different model so may be in the future I hope!

Anyway sounds as though the E65 is the one for me.
