    Hi
I recorded two programs in one session ie I just set the machine recording and it recorded two programs one after another. Can I now spilt this up and give each program a title. This recorded on a DVD-R. I recorded it this way as I thought the machine would not stop and start quickly enough.
    Any pointers would be helpfull.

No, only on a ram disc, -R is write once media and you have to send the finished article to it as you can't change it later.
Hence the huge advantage of the hs2 and similar machines with a hard drive where you can edit the recording before archiving to -r.
