There doesn't seem to be anything about E3 on the net and i thought it had already started.

Wanted to know if there will be a pic of the PS3 and some spec's.

Is that press conference (Sony) going to be live anywhere? Doesn't seem like gamespot will be showing it live as they explicity mention live next to the nintendo press conference tomorrow.

Last year Gamespot showed all the shows live so I'm sure it'll be the same this year unless Sony's press conference is behind closed doors.

who wants to bet there will be a "shortage" of the ps3 at launch? sick to the back teeth of that sony tactic.

Yep - keep posted to Gamespot at 10pm tonight and then about 2:30am for Sony & then M$'s live broadcasts. PST is 7 hours behind GMT.

Oh come on next you'll be asking us to bet that Sony tell us the PS3 will be 20 times more powerful than the X-Box when infact it turns out to be about the same. :D :rotfl: . You have to laugh at Sony's marketing sometimes - surely those tactics can only work the once though.

See here . The design looks familiar with the sliding front cover, can't remember where i've seen it before though.

That design doesn't surprise me at all, it looks just like the Blu-ray players that have been doing the rounds anyway.

Either Sony havn't learnt their lesson following the "Emotion Engine" or they've actually procured a proper molecular chip which should certainly be capable of that kind of performance. Of course the specs don't really add up to that kind of performance boost - plus it's just been pointed out to me that the graph doesn't actually say PS3, just the cell chip running at that speed.

Interesting to see 2 HDMI outputs and a proliferation of storage options. :)

Yeah it's been going a while now (about 30 mins) but there's no feed showing it - just info on internet sites & forums. Apparantly engadget and joystiq have had record people on their sites and they have both gone down!

    anyone remeber the PSX?
they all seem to do a lot of floating calcs but is it marketing driving the technology? HDMI may be its downfall..............bluetooth seems an odd choice for controllers.
but as they acquired the technology why not.....but will there be an RF adapter, thats what i want to know!!!!!!

When they start quoting the number of transistors and the manufacturing process it's definitely marketing driving the technology. It suited the original Pentium Processors though with their groundbreaking 5 million transistors. :)

One factor is that with Blu Ray you get 54 GB of storage so that you can truely release some spectacular games in High Def. With the 360 just being DVD it could lack the storage required. There's a press release here .

EDIT: There's some other angle pics on this forum here .

Crucial words from a games designer:
    "Easy to program for"

which are very important considering the disastrous architecture of the PS2.

Im not impressed by the PS3's design. It may be powerfull but I dont like certain aspects of it. There no tray which means disks will get damaged over time.

You know, this thing actually looks like Denons small subwoofers!
    http://denon.jp/company/release/77xgseries.html

The specs are actually quite similar to the 360 so i dont think we will see a huge difference in perfomrance and game quality.

The only positive thing about the PS3 is the Blu Ray drive.

By the way, im I the only one who thinks the PS3 logo on the side looks like the logo for Spiderman 2???

And it STILL looks like a door wedge!
