I am after the simple answer to the following question.

"I want E.T. on dvd with the remastered version AND the original both with DTS ES surround sound. Is it region 1, 2 standard or the R1 3 disc pack" I have done a searc and found nothing on the forums.

Want to know as R2 version is out on monday and do not want to buy it if I can get the whole thing.

    I think this is correct:

R2 - only the 'new' version. DTS sound.

    R1 2-disc - both verisons. Both DTS.

R1 3-disc - both versions. DTS only on the 'new' version.

    That looks right to me.

Best one to buy is the 2 disc R1 for what you've said you want out of it

It's definitely on disc 2. It wasn't supposed to be until Spielberg stepped in and insisted

    Oh Thats Just Great!!!!

Now I will have to wait until Dec 9th as it is only £27.99 and that is worth waiting for- me thinks!! better to wait than buy R1 for £40, although I could just get the R1 2 disc version mmmmmm!!! Why oh why do they do this ...

I think I'll have to get the region 2 one then. I'm always reluctant to buy region 1's (and I don't know why!)

Yep, just got the press release from Universal myself! It's printed in full on my site, but basically both version of the film will be inlcuded, and better still, both will have DTS soundtracks unlike the R1 release.....!!
