Hi all - probably a bit strange, but has anybody ever tried to dye a speaker grill (made of material not metal) a different colour?

I need to try to adapt a mission centre speaker to a white(ish) colour and wondered if it had been done before? i am sure it will need quite a few attempts as it's currently black, but have bought a spare one so that if the results are dreadful I can revert back to original black.

    Any tips/advice?

I would expect that recovering the grill would give a better result.

There was a link for a company that sold speaker cloth on these forums a while ago - If you do a search it should appear - failing that google should bring something up! Looking to do something similar myself in the not to distant future!

You can get car head lining cloth basically the same as speaker cloth. Any car trimmers would supply (check yellow pages). Or car stereo suppliers they often use this material for accoustic parcel shelves in cars.

Recently recovered my sub with head lining trim cost about £2.00 with great results
