Carrying on from the bargain gtx 580 price on amazon, they have changed their picture of the asus 580 to include a box now, so they clearly have seen the advertised price and still not corrected it.

I had a similar issue with a 120gb SSD from amazon- advertised as £70 (clearly mispriced as they were nearly £300 everywhere else), 4 week pre order time - email after 2 weeks saying dispatched and i only got charged the £70

Again with Amazon, couple of years ago i pre-ordered an Xbox wireless adaptor for the measly sum of £1.50, usually costing £50 odd i thought no chance, low and behold it arrived a few weeks later, well chuffed. I'm so tempted to put an order in for one of these but i dont want to jinx the deal for you Gliese. What you doing with the 480??

Came to this thread seeking advice and before i even posted ive just ordered one of theese 580's, but not holding my breathe as ive been bumped with amazon mispriced stuff before.

If i do get it tho, do you think the nice folks at scan would take back the 5870 thats coming tomorow

Anyway the reason i started to look at this thread before being coaxed into buying a my second GFX card in two days was that my new 5870 arrives tomorow and being new to pc gaming was after some advice.
Currently i am using an xfx 1GB 5770 which has handled all the games ive thrown at it pretty damn well. Theese games being, COD Black Ops, MOH Tier 1, Just Cause 2, Mafia 2, Dirt 2 and a few others.

What id like to know is, as you can see the games ive been playing are all ports of console games, what games that are specificaly for PC would you recomend? Ill try most things but I aint into warcraft or anything like that - you got draw the line somewhere

Also whats the best way to set the settings for pc games, do they all come with a benchmark option that will optomize the game to your pc?

And I guess just in case I do get the GTX 580, which one should i sell,
xfx 1GB 5870 @ £220
Asus 1.5GB GTX @ £311

avnt bin in this thread for ages and low and behold i come in today and find another super deal from amazon on the table

went str8 there and ordered 1!

hopefully we'll all have 580 goodness for a knockout price like i got with my 5970 from there. still going strong mind you but cmon.......

if this comes off i'll get the money back str8 away with selling my 5970

Thats all good and well but you try sitting around all day, snowed in, staring at your pc and a brand spanking new GFX card just sitting there waiting to be sent back. I know my will power, and its gash, that puppy will be in my machine before the scan van pulls out my street

Ive been trying to get some comparisons between the two cards, and would i be right in thinking the 580 should perform around about the same as 2 x 5870s in xfire?
