DVR-545HX - Freeview recording problems.

Has anybody experienced problems recording programs from the internal Freeview tuner on this machine?

If I set the machine up to record a program through the guide (maybe add a few mins to the end incase of over running) it goes through the motions fine, but when I go to watch the program it's blank. Listed on the HDD guide OK, but there is a black preview screen and when you play that program there is nothing but a black screen.

It started doing this occasionaly (yes, has worked fine previously) and now it seems to do it all the time, except when you record from its analogue tuner when everything is fine.

You can also view programmes through its internal Freeview tuner fine.

Any ideas?

Never had any issues like this.

Need some more information. What channels is this happening on? Some channels are Pay to View, so if you set a recording from those you will get a blank screen!

Are you using GuidePlus or the digital Guide? If you are using GuidePlus you need to check the station settings are correct for each channel, i.e. that ITV is set to use Channel 3 on the internal tuner. If you are using the Digital Freeview EPG, this doesn't apply.

What happens when you are viewing the Freeview tuner and press record to start recording straight away, does this work?

Thanks for this, I think this may be my problem.

I noticed today that when I was watching ITV1 on Freeview the DVR was displaying D003 but when using the Guideplus and chosing to record something on ITV1 it came up with D803. Manually changed this to D003 (editing the channel list) and it seems to have recorded fine.

Guess I better check a few more channels.

I think the numbers 800 + are given to duplicate channels. It is likely you can receive some channels from different transmitters, so you get the main ones, and then some duplicate channels with a weaker signal from another transmitter. Because the signal is so borderline from the second transmitter it doesn't actually show a picture!

I've had this happen. It seems that the machine received a Guide+ update and got confused. It added some extra channels, in my case this was D801 and D802 (which was BBC1 & 2) which had the Guide+ icon next to it, but the channel showed a black screen.

But if I carried on looking through the channels, then I found D001 and D002, which was BBC1 and BBC2 without a Guide+ icon against the channels, and the showed the programmes.

So how did I fix it? I went back into the setup and told it to search for the digital channels. Once done, the D800 channels disappeared and D001 and D002 had the Guide+ icon shown against them and could record programmes from them.
