dvi-i to dvi-d ...does it work

    Hi...i have a 42 inch samsung plasma with a dvi-d input & my computer has an nvidia 6800gt graphics card with dvi-i...are these compatable?

    i have a dvi-d to dvi-d cable & tried to attach the computer to the tv but got no signal...should this work...any info appreciated

    Assuming your graphics card is outputting a digital signal through it's DVI-I, it be completely compatible.

    Yes - most graphics cards have DVI-I outputs - which carry both a DVI-D digital and a DVI-A analogue video output. Many DVI displays only have DVI-D inputs, so DVI-I to DVI-D cables should be fine.

    (DVI-A only outputs are almost unheard of AIUI)
