I've just bought a Hitachi 32LD7200 and want to connect a pc among other things but what is the best conection? VGA vs DVI

I guessing DVI is the answer but What cables would I need a DVI-I or DIV-D

Will a DVI-I fit on the TV?

    Hi Starfish,

For a start, VGA sends an Analogue signal and DVI can either be Analogue or Digital.

    DVI-D sends a digital signal
DVI-I can send either digital and analogue signals.

What I have done with my set up is connect the VGA out on the laptop to a VGA cable, then use a VGA to DVI-I adapter and plugged that into the Sharp TV. This used an Analogue signal. What you can't do is take a VGA signal and connect it to DVI-D (Digital).

You need to check the TV's DVI input becuase there is a physical difference between DVI-D and DVI-I (There are 4 extra pins on a DVI-I plug that would not fit a DVI-D socket).

Some people say that VGA produces a brilliant picture, but I would personally go with DVI-D.

    HTH,

    Richie.

    Xelon,

It looked great in the shop among the best I've seen - but my one has not arrived yet.

My problem is I'm not sure waht connector it has DVI-I or D

Just wanted to make sure that I had all the cables and stuff ready for a quick setup - otherwise my Girl friend will shoot me for wasting my time
