    Hi,

    Just ordered a new PD32PD30C. I've got mostly R2 with a few R1 DVDs.

Does it matter if I try to calibrate the TV with the DVE NTSC disc and then play PAL versions and vice versa ? (I assumed the disc helps to set correct colour levels and geometry levels that are generic).

Or is it more involved than that.

    Many Thanks

    GTFC

I believe with most tvs, gtfc, settings for NTSC are stored seperately from PAL, so if you calibrate with NTSC DVE disk, then it will make no difference to PAL DVDS and visa-versa

It probably depends on your set.

With the JVC HV32P37 I had briefly, the geometry settings certainly needed setting differently for PAL & NTSC, but feeding it via component, I found that colour/contrast/brightness was constant between the two. I did have to use one of the custom settings to adjust these settings to get the best from RGB feed from my 221T & X-box.

    Yes.

It will be correct for NTSC only.

The colour will be different, and maybe geometry.

It's best to have PAL if you want PAL correct.
