DVE calibrated - more noise?

After DVE calibrating my PWD8, I think I got more noise... just a little tad... I mean, I noticed it right after, so there couldn't have been all that much noice before... or maybe it's just me... I tend to really look after those things too...!

But I must say too, that I didn't notice a real dramatic **** in PQ - maybe I did it wrong or maybe I just hit the right settings, when I got my screen in "run-in-mode"... ;)

Also, I had to take the Advanced Setting "Input Level" all the way down to see the white bars at the outside of the screen on the test pattern Title 12, chapter 14, and to see the white square in test pattern 13, 2...??

Heres the link to the patterns: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196873

But could that be right? At least it helped... ;)

The one thing it did help though, was of course the details in the black! They are way better!

I actually noticed something... When the brightness was at the right setting, you could alter the noise, but altering the contrast! But it came and went VERY irregulary! Don't know why that is...

Peter: If you had to drop iniput level alot to see white bars it suggests the output levels of your source are way too high. Is there a contrast adjustment on the DVD player? If so you might want to do it all again but put the panel back to defaults then change contrast on player first...then go do brightness etc on panel

Arh, thanks mate! But would it change anything? Other than the input level could be turned up again?
