    Hi all,

I'm after a list of mainstream movies that don't seem to have macrovision on them. I'd like to be able to check my 963sa with my HT1000 via scart to see how good the image is compared to component.

So far it looks better to me, but it's difficult to watch if the macrovision is interfering with the picture.

I seem to remember Blade being macrovision free - any others you know of?

    TIA

    Gary.

Goldeneye R2 in the plastic case- just took the composite out from the DVD into a VCR and no macrovision effects.

Its my experience that RGB scart is better than component unless of course its progressive scan component which obviously wins by miles. I also find that after backing up (cough) dvds with a slightly reduced bit rate over the original, so as to get the movie on a single layer I was getting a better more vivid picture and then I realised macrovision was originally reducing the contrast on my setup!!!!! Ok the resolution wasn't quite as good but only marginally worse if you could notice at all but everything else was better and no layer change pause. Also stability of the image has improved around high contrast switches from bright to dim displays. I realise this may not be the same for every setup but the fact remains that I wouldn't have known how my setup was macrovision sensitive until I'd made a copy of Attack of the clones and compared it.

Thanks for all the replies guys,

as it happens, it no longer matters - I was so dissapointed with the flaws in the 963 I had, that I'm sending it back.

What should I get to replace it?

    Cheers.

    Gary.

Make one out of washing up liquid bottles, sticky back plastic, glue and paint! :D

The Pio 656A 110V, since that's progressive or the one up, although it's a bit more expensive- think about £300 more.

    Hi Gary,

You can get a MR US version 656A from www.jvb.nl at a pretty good price. I bought an SDI-modded 757Ai from these guys and can recommend their service.:smashin:
