I have at least some excuse as my DVD player is still away for upgrade. Only reason I'm spending more time around here! Some of these pre-date the DVD player departure though...

    1. Swordfish
    2. Super Speedway Special Edition
    3. Shrek
    4. Tavener Fall and Resurrection
    5. The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, And Her Lover
    6. Yes Symphonic Live
    7. European Concert 1994
    8. A.I.
    9. The Others
    10. Loads of episodes of Farscape

Oh, and there's about 400 CD's I've never got around to listening to! But I won't file them in the main collection until I've heard each one all through! Come to think of it, I could be listening to some of these via the Laserdisk player. Biyee!!

Same thing here. I'm lagging behind watching what I've bought. It doesn't help that there are a few sales on at the moment.

I've got about 20-25 DVDs that I haven't watched yet. But I'm getting through them slowly. In the meantime, I'm ordering more

The worrying thing is.. if we are all trying to keep up with watching DVDs that we have just ordered, we'll never get a chance to watch them again afterwards :( I'm hoping I calm down soon (a lot of what I'm ordering is replacements for VHS copies).

I have what is refered to as "DVD Friday"....

I allow myself to order 1 new DVD purchase each and every Friday.

This is in a vain attempt to limit the amount of disks I buy since when I first bought my kit I was buying around half a dozen every week...

for the last 3-4 months I have been very good and stuck to this quite religiously although there are a few holes in my plan... ;)

For instance the Die Hard Trilogy was one purchase... so was the Fantasia boxset...

also the small print of the agreement with myself refered to 'new DVD' and as such trades and purchases of 2nd hand disks on this forum and EBAY are not covered by the DVD Friday rule....

Reminds me of a track by Madness... "I'm as honest as the day is long.... the longer the daylight the less I do wrong"

    :D

12 Monkeys, Akira, Apocalypse Now Redux, Arlington Road, Austin Powers 1, Battle Angel Alita, The Beach, Beavis And Butt-Head Do America, Boondock Saints, Dark City, Desperado, Dumb And Dumber, Existenz, Fight Club, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Game, Gen-X Cops, Gladiator, Hannibal, The Haunting, Johnny Mnemonic, The Mask, Meet The Parents, Memento, Moulin Rouge, Natural Born Killers, The Patriot, Pitch Black, Planet Of The Apes, Reservoir Dogs, Romeo + Juliet, Se7en, Snatch, Twister

These are all the discs I haven't watched (completely) yet. But I've seen all the movies elsewhere except for Apocalypse Now, Hannibal, Moulin Rouge and Planet Of The Apes.

Must get round to watching them but for every disc I watch I buy at least 1 new DVD... It's a never never-ending story...

Looks like a thread from some sort of support group to me!

I think everyone should start advertising in the DVD sales and Wants thread and give all us other forum members a chance to pick up some unwatched bargains!!!

Of course, by the time we do get round to watching all these disks, if there is a problem with the disk, it'll be too late to report the fault and get it exchanged

    Squirrel God,

I had problems with one disc that I'd watched after about 3 or 4 weeks but the store changed it for a new one without any problems (probably because there was a clearly visible 'fold' within the reflective layer).
If a new disc looks damaged I either watch it immediately or play it without watching but then I check if the elapsed time is the same on the DVD-player as on a stopwatch (if there are any scratches of jumps the elapsed times wouldn't be the same of course).

Yeah, 3-4 weeks is not a problem. I'm talking more around the 2-3 months mark :(

I look at the disks too and if there's anything visible than I prioritise them for a watch first.

I have been guilty of this.

With the price of DVDs dropping I have bought dozens because of the price rather than because I wanted to watch them.

I reckon I have around 50 still sealed.

I have solved this problem now by falling out with play247 who I bought 95% of these "bargains" from.

My not-watched list was 32 movies but at least I unwrapped them (at the very least to look for scratches).

But for me, it's just the opposite of mcmullanbrush, I have plenty of other stuff to do (like having a social life)

mcmullanbrush, I'm guessing you're wife isn't a regular visitor on this forum?

    I hope she doesnt

Seriously though, when I first got a DVD player, there were only about 200 region 1 discs and no region 2 discs available.

Initially there was a shortage of stuff to buy, then gradually more and more films got released and I was busy buying all the discs I wanted.

Suddenly, I more or less owned everything I wanted to own. It was then I started to buy "bargain" priced discs. I had been used to spending 200 pounds a month on DVDs and just continued to do so.

I have stopped now though as I have just bought a projector and I am enjoying re-watching all my favourites
    :D :D

So, i presume the idea of keeping all these 'new' discs intact is so in five years time you can watch all your 'old favorites' for the first time! [IMG]
