Hi all. Hope everyone had a good Xmas.

As usual, spam pops into my mail box and now I'm interested in a DVD writer.
I've been looking at the DVDR890.

Would anyone know if the following is possible?

Basically, I intend to get SKY+ so that I can listen to some of their movies in DD5.1. However, I may wish to archive these films off the SKY+ box to a DVD writer.
Will the DD5.1 track remain during the transfer to DVD for the above DVD recorder?

And if that question is not too difficult, does anyone know if the Sky+ box can be hooked up to a PC so I could copy the film to a DVD recorder on my PC. ( Can't afford two DVD writers so looking for the best option ).

Happy new year all.

Unfortunately, you cannot record the Dolby Digital soundtrack onto A DVD or PC. Of course it is retained on the stream that is recorded on the SKY+ hard disk, but I guess you already know that.

Thanks for the help. Would you know if that is the limitation of the Sky+ box or the DVD writers?
I don't suppose you know the technical explanation why it can't be done, I'm always keen to learn.

Regards,

JoeJoe
