DVDO HD Connection Problems

I want to route three sources through my DVDO HD scalar and am having a bit of trouble getting my head around the best way to do it.

The current set up is:

SKY+ -> component -> Denon In
DVD -> component -> Denon In

Denon Out -> component -> DVDO In
Xbox 360 -> component -> DVDO In

DVDO Out -> VGA - > Plasma PC Input

All audios are via optical and are handled by the Denon.

The DVDO is set to 760p output at 50hz and the picture is pretty good. When I switch to the xbox I have to set the DVDO to 480p otherwise the picture only takes up 3/4 of the left side of the plasma. If I try to set the xbox to 760p output I get a full picture on the plasma but it is green.

Is this the best way to do this?

DVD - component - iScan
Sky - RGB+sync or component - iScan

[keep on different inputs as both will want differeing aspect ratios, overscan adjustment, grayscale and colour adjustment etc]

XBox either direct to the plasma as component, or using VGA leads via iScans pass-thru input.

Other possibility would be getting an Oppo DVD and connect it to the DVI input, great affordable player, or even get an SDI module and SDI modded player which will give you the best PQ the HD can give. You can get the module fairly cheap from ebay (Lenexpo).
I have a Sony 730 DVD, an Oppo and a Panasonic RP82 with SDI (got it 2nd hand in this forum), the Sony connected to the component inputs of my HD+ gives great PQ but not as good as the Oppo, with better colour and more detail, but the RP82 is even better with less noise and more film like.
Cheers.

If you are going for a new player, it might be worth holding off for the new Oppo 70 model. From what I've gleaned this will be capable of 576i/480i over DVI/HDMI and will be perfect to mate to the Iscan - no internal processing. Apparently its going to be as close to SDI as you can get without the expense/conversion. Theres no point gettting an upscaling player if you have a VP surely ?

I believe its available in April and "should" be about £80. Assuming they iron out the PAL issues I'm after one

Problem is HD doesn't support HDCP

The original HD can't do interlaced HDMI input.

It also won't work with the current Oppo SDI modified decks - these only seem to work with PMS products (Plasma Enhancer and Crystalio ranges).

My mistake - I thought the firmware upgrade did interlaced for the HD also

Had some fun last night playing around with component leads, optical cables and audio inputs on the HD. Result: DVD and Sky+ running through the DVDO and autoswitching :clap:

Ordered the VGA cable for the xBox (thanks Liam for making me spend MORE money :)) so as soon as that arrives I will be fully sorted.

Cheers for the good advice Liam :D

Well, I'm the first to admit that I practically nothing about setting up my DVDO and it isn't optimised for my setup. I use the standard settings which is 720p @ 50hz locked and I'm sure that it could be fine-tuned to further 'enhance my viewing experience' :D

But the Sky+ picture through the DVDO is definitely better; it is sharper and clearer and it passes the girlfriend sight test. If she can see the difference then it must better (no offence to the female members of the forums:hiya: )

Next plan is to get the setup ISF'd (when I get my Pioneer HD plasma later this year).
