Interesting product. Im currently steaming my 4k rips on the Nvidia shield from some network attached hard drives. Mostly ok but occasionally playback issues with pausing and lip syncing. Sounds like this could be more reliable

Looks like this ticks most of my boxes. I use an old but reliable Sumvision cycle mediaplayer for my Blu-ray rips. It plays rips flawlessly but it can be quite sluggish.

Can this device play mkv files from external USB 3.0 HDD? Also where can I buy this from?

How would you compare it to the Zidoo X9S?

I'd suggest it was more similar to the Zidoo X10, but a tad more expensive. It also doesn't work without an internal HDD, whilst the X10 can.

Can't comment on performance or the quality of the UI or playback as haven't seen it, but I rate the Zidoo devices highly.

PQ and playback is perfect ..had no issues at all. but i do think zidoo is the best value for money and has better software and features and does all what dvdfab does.

DVDfab software at present with lots of bugs..does not output atmos from certain UHD isos.

Looks like the Egreat A8 but with extra 50 bucks on top.
Have the A5 which I will be selling soon has been waiting for the Android 7 update and also the shadow detail issue yet to be resolved.

So this player you can't use if there is no SATA 3.5 HDD installed. What a load of &^*^*&(
Who came up with that idea? Like the reviewer says, go out buy a nice 2TB NAS £70 and decent media player i.e. Q10 Pro and your in a win win situation.

PS: I do miss my Himedia 900B (ancient I know) but the SMB Windows platform was amazing esp in deep colour mode paired up with a Onkyo receiver.........

Seems like Companys now realise money can be made on these Android type boxes by putting there LOGOS on other box makers ........ Egreat ,Zidoo

      Dune ?
      DVDFab
      ...........?

And bump the price up by $$$$$ amount
Do your homework first before splashing out .

Dont get me wrong the Egreat A5 has played everything I have thrown at it including 4K 86GB streamed from a NAS, it played it no problems.
My beef is that the image shadow on lower res is really really bad and with NO Android (7) update in sight by them (Still on 5.1) I have been forced to put it on the market shortly.
That is my only beef with the Egreat which lets down a good product.
I really wanted a X10 Zidoo, looks stunning but with settle with the X9S, never owned a Zidoo product before but doing my research they have had 13 updates on firmware in the past 15 months, that is what I call looking after folks who buy your products.

you have made the right decision. I have DVDfab and Zidoo X10. Zidoo is by far the best and cheaper too.

      What's it like with 4k 60fps buddy?
Most of the rips I watch are 1080p so not really a issue.
More 4K would be nice but damn those files are big.

It will mostly for streaming rips from the NAS, USB material and some IPTV from Perfect player. If the IPTV is good as the Nvidia Shield I have, i will sell that also.

At moment i use X10 for 1080p Dts and Dolby plus etc
Mkv provided good file it plays back very good and picture also .
The bigger the download better the image will be as such .

Yeah, totally, those 35Gb bluray remux are nice, get a menu with them and DTS -HD Master too
I do have some 4K rips and too totally honest, they're overkill. Not just the size and bandwidth they require but a good bluray would be sufficient.
      Do you have surround sound?

      Yes 5.1 / 7.1
Once you reach 10gb on a 1080p movie its a very good quality picture depending on your screen etc
But the Zidoo 1295 does a very good job on picture quality i find . :)

You will need to post on the Zidoo X10 forum once you get yours some inf on first post that may help out .

10gb is good size for viewing, like you say the bigger the file the more the bit rate.
TV is 65" 4k Hisense does a decent job.
Connecting up the box when I get home shortly have a play with it.
Like to compare it with the Egreat and Himedia.
I haven't jumped on the Atmos bandwagon just yet but maybe in summer.
Pretty basic set up using a Pioneer VSX930 with 7.1 Q speakers and a 8" sub.

Played around the X9S last night and well happy, must better picture than the Egreat.
Picture is more intense, depth and stunning, had to give brightness a bit of a boost tho.
Automatically moves to HDR (TV mode) when HDR content is displayed which is a relief.

Picked up auto subs, NAS drives and USB content straight away and posters.
Point of note, if one as a Pioneer AV, the handshake between them is tricky.
The player must be on first then the receiver, had this before.
But all in all, well happy.
