    Hi All

Can anyone please explain to me what DVD9 is? A format im guessing!?
Is it the same format as dvd's purchased from a shop/play/cdwow?

I ask as I bought a dvd from ebay recently and it appeared like the original indeed the cover shown on ebay and the cover on the box are near identicle bar a logo at the top right of the box showing the DVD9 logo. Its a Walt Disney disc so i know it shouldn't be their.
It plays ok, im just curious in the difference!

    Thanks

    CH

I think DVD9 is a pirate "brand-mark" so sounds like it's a pirate disc. Apparently, the quality of ome of these DVD9's is quite good. Think they're manufactured off-shore near somewhere like Malaysia or Thailand.

If you want to know more, do s search for dvd9 - the subject has been covered before.

if you're unhappy with owning a pirate dvd contact they seller and tell them you'll contact ebay.

all it means is that its the format that the dvd has been made in e.g

    DVD-5 (12 cm, single-side/single layer)
    DVD-9 (12cm,single-side, dual layer)
    DVD-10 (12cm,double side, single layer)
DVD-14 (12 cm, double side/mixed-layer(mixed means single layer on one side, dual layer on the other side))

    and so on

Most DVD Films you buy form the shops are DVD9 dual layered discs.

Not all DVDs that have a DVD9 logo are pirate, there are quite afew Region 3 titles that have a DVD9 logo and are perfectly legit but if you see a DVD on eBay which has a holographic DVD9 logo and a DTS banner along the top then there is a good chance it is a bootleg.

As far as I am aware the value appended to the DVD tag refers to the volume of storage on the disc
    i.e.
    DVD5 (stores approx 4.5gb)
    DVD9 (stores approx 9gb)
    etc
