Bought "Escape from New York" R1 2-disc CE and "Around The World In 80 Days (1956)" recently and noticed that EFNY comes on 2 DVD5s and ATWI80D has the film divided across 2 discs when the whole thing would fit on one DVD9 (inc. commentary & languages, checked with DVDShrink). I also noticed that the 2-disc of "The Producers" contains 2 DVD5s.

What's going on??? MGM seem to be trying to trick us into thinking we are getting a 2-disc set, when its actually just a single disc worth of material and Warner are needlessly splitting a film in two (maybe to give the impression that picture quality will be improved????).

    Anway, its annoying!!

Just thought that by splitting 1-disc worth of material across 2 DVD5s the film companies are inviting pirates to make 1:1 copies! Another great decision!!!! :lesson:
