Being a happy owner of a FLR, just wanted to check the stats, so I decided to plainly copy the Top Loader poll.... Hope no one minds...

Very happy here as well. Superb machine and works flawlessly since day 1.
I hope that stays like this - I really love this player!

For £1K its an amazing machine - its worth twice that much but not more IMHO. The fact that it integrates with the AV192R is a big benefit and the performance is slightly better in most cases than it is with my old Toshiba. However, there are DVDs that the TAG won't touch that the Tosh is quite happy with. The Tosh also responds much quicker to commands than the TAG.

The sound is great - I just love it.

Not had a problem since day 1 and that's now almost three years ago.

I admit that there must be a difference between the FLR and the top loader, but for that extra 5% - is it worth the worry of wondering if your unit is going to work when you next power it up?

The old Tosh did have a very good video output as Nic and I both know but its CD ability was horrible the TAG is much better in that respect and depending on your display (which might be the limiting factor here) will also show marked improvement especially on its component output, maybe I didn't make those leads as well as I ought to have done mate.... We have some nice Canare cable now to match the connectors.....hint hint.....

    Er.... Isn't the FLR a 2001/2002 model?

Parallel question: whose is the oldest FLR in this forum?

Mine: arrived new on March 11, 2005.

The machine has been reading CDs (out of a 400 collection, including CD-Rs) and DVDs (most badly treated rentals) flawlessly, without a hicup, much less a refusal.

    Luis.

Many people only bought their FLR recently as a result of the bargain prices when IAG dumped stock. No FLR's have been made since TMA closed its doors, some may have been assembled at IAG but no PCB's, mechanism's or metalwork etc. have been made by IAG as far as I am aware.

The difference between the two are only the 32R's sliding door and far heavier loader assembly, the electronics are identical....... So apart from door issues the FLR could suffer the same electrical problems. Many years ago I mentioned that the sliding door closes with a finger chopping clunk on a great many DVD32R units, I also said at the time that I wondered if it gave any component inside a mechanical shock it didn't really want, that might be the only reason that FLR's live longer electrically but as I said its early days for the FLR......

For info, both the DVD32R's I come into contact with play every disk I have ever tried in it, well until it broke of course..... Not surprising your FLR does as well as they are the same thing dressed in different clothes.

A friend of mine owns early model from sommer 2002, but he is not realy a merit because he plays maximum of one disk a week, maybe even less. No problems are known to me. He also does not read forums so will not vote here.

I am actually seriously surprised that more than twice more voters voted on top loader poll than on this one.
OK, FLR is ugly as hell but it is 1. MUCH more reliable and 2. it costs much less (I recently saw two of them going for just over 1k Euro).

So much more people bought top loader??? Somehow hard to believe?

I belive there are now (after the big sale) quite a lot FLR's out there. The low
number of people in the poll might be due to many of those customers so not know this forum ?!

They'd have to be complete ludites and I don't think that is a term that can be used to describe a TAG McLaren Audio kit owner. I say that becuase a quick Google of "tag mclaren audio iag" puts this forum in 2nd and 3rd position.

Hey Miron, I don't thinkl that the FLR is ugly at all - in fact it matches the other TAG kit nicer than the top loader and of coarse is much easier to place rather htan have to sit on a top shelf somewhere.

Anyway I'd rather have an ugly duckling that works rather than a dead swan.
