Can you tell me some DVD players that have VGA output
there a few here
but officially it is illegal
for what reason? The encryption thing?
the only variant of RGB that is allowed is the one used by SCARTS (). From memory this is RGsB, RGBHV which is what were are talking about re VGA is verboden, you need to look component (which is related!!). Basically it is one of those daft things
sounds daft indeed! It isnt even with reason like the encryption!
lektropacks.co.uk have a magic box, part no.csr-2200, for £49 that turns a scart RGB into a VGA output but check compatibility.
I have one that i use from my XBOX into the plasma and it works fine.
There are a lot of cheap chinese players with vga output but models destined for the uk often have it removed and a scart rgb socket in its place. Normally the h/sync and v/sync points are still available on the circuit board to make a conversion cable but you often also need a new firmware with the vga enabled option as scart rgb only uses a combined v/h sync.
You can find however chinese spec players about with the vga output option fitted. They are often imported by uk wholesalers directly and sold through small dealers or professional ebay auction sellers.
Also dvd players like the kiss dp450 have a vga option using a converter cable but it doesn't work with commercial macrovision protected dvds. It does with non macrovision dvds though. You can get round this problem using an earlier firmware but then you lose the excellent performance and improved divx compatibility which the later firmware has.
