My dad's looking at getting a dvd/video combi, ive never looked into this as I have separates.

    Are they any good?

Can anyone recommend any specific models?

    Thanks in advance.

I have direct experience of the JVC unit as I've had it for about a year. The DVD is fair to good on picture quality and the video side was as good as VHS gets (i.e. looks terrible straight after watching a DVD ;))

The remote is fine and works well. Has RGB output and has both the coaxial and optical digital outputs plus standard stereo pair analogues.

Unit I'm talking about is the JVC HR-XV1EK and I believe it currently comes with the usual 3 free DVDs offer.

    Cheers

The current panasonic combi gets the 'best' reviews for what its worth. It is the most expensive of the current market in the UK but it 'beats' the JVC and the Tosh. Not heard any reviews of the new Philips or Sony units yet...
