This might be a bit naughty, but has anyone noticed what the actual value is that DVD Soon now put on the packagings? Is it the amount you paid when you placed the order, or is the amount that it's selling for at the time of shipping? If it's the amount at time of shipping, knowing DVD Soon's price fluctuations, this could be more than you actually paid for it, so you could be charged by customs for an item which was under the £18 limit when you bought it.

However (and this might be the naughty bit), if it's the value you were actually billed for, which is displayed, there could be an advantage. What if you ordered an item, then cancelled it a day later. You would be issued a credit off your next order, thus reducing the billed amount of said order. Do you see where I'm going? So, if you order a DVD for $30, then cancelled it, you would have $30 credit. Then, say, your next order happened to be a Box Set for $60, you would only actually get billed the extra $30, and if that's what showed on the packaging (the $30), you wouldn't incur customs charges.

I bet it wouldn't work, but it's a thought... [IMG]

    thats a very valid point.
i'm sure i never see a price on my recent order i received "pink panther box set".
and that could be because i cancelled a big order i had with them and then re-ordered individually thus using store credit.
making my individual purchases $0 in theory.
i will check my next order when it arrives and try and confirm it.
    all the best

:nono: Yes it is naughty, and no it wont work! :D :p I am 99% certain that the retail price is printed on the packaging.

Makes sense too otherwise you could order a DVD for $10, cancel it and then buy a DVD for $9 and you would appear to be getting it for free...

i too was 99% certain the price was usually on the front of the packaging, but i'm pretty sure it wasn't in this case.
i will also add i only cancelled my first order as i had ordered 2 copies of star wars and my father then decided he no longer wanted one so i had to amend the order.
in no way was i trying anything on.

It could be valid, however, if the price changes between ordering and shipping, especially for more advanced pre-orders. I've just ordered LOTR: ROTK Platinum, and if the price goes up between now and shipping, it could make the difference between paying customs charges, or not. :)

Why don't you ask the question on this forum where the staff at DVDSoon are always available to answer queries.

Obviously don't mention why you want to know this

There is no ambiguity, there is no debate!

DVD Soon put the value of the order on the packaging, at the time one placed said order, whether one used store credit or credit card.

well,i just had my return of the king dvd delivered which was purchased with store credit from part of my original big order that i cancelled and i can definately confirm that the full price was stated on the packet.
so,i must have been really dazed when i looked at the packaging for pink panther (i had just got to sleep mind and my wifey awoke me,so that could be why)
    anyway,there goes that theory.
    and confucious was correct.

Also had this from DVD Soon today:

    Hi,

The price showed on the package, is the price you have paid when you place the order. So, if the price go up at the moment of the shipping, you will not be penalized.

    Have a nice day.
