Just purchased a dvd and a fidelity card. Both appeared on the billing. Does this mean it will appear on the package as the order value and I will be subject to customs?

All except a MAJOR screw up with my Quadrilogy set!. A couple of days ago I got a customs notice for £16.11, I thought no way is that right, the Quadrilogy was only £21 ($49) so I thought well the buggers can sent it right back. In the end I didn't trust Royal Mail to return it so I went to the sorting office today with my £16 and got the parcel. While paying I looked at the label and the idiots had put down $81 (the pre-discount quadrilogy price), then underneath had put $81 again!, so down at the bottom I had the total of $160odd so it's not hard to see why it attracting the customs virus. Not only that but the second I picked the package up I thought Oh there is NO WAY that this package contains 9 discs!, ripped open the package and found The Thing Collector's Edition, somthing I would never buy from dvd soon as I have the older R2 release.

Typical that the day after I sing the praises of dvdsoon on here that they royally screw me over and are now taking ages to reply to my e-mail, if they don't reply im just gonna fill out the return order form on the site and keep mailing them every day till they reply.

There is no return order form. There is a replacement order form though. Ask for a replacement @ dvdsoon that takes care of the Alien Quad dvd. Email them about the customs charge because of the misprint when you send them your scanned affidavit (replacement request) and also include that query on the affidavit itself. You might even scan the package so they know the problem (French Canada and the workload @ dvdsoon don't go well if you make it too complicated).

You might also try out customs by printing the order confirmation and making a copy of the wrong declaration.
imo the worst plausible case will be:
You get Alien Quadrilogy (eventually) and get to keep The Thing (they don't ask you to send it back too often) but you won't get a refund from dvdsoon or customs.

    Best case:
You get Alien Quadrilogy (eventually) and get to keep The Thing and you'll recieve 8 pounds from customs and 8 pounds from dvdsoon. But I don't think that dvdsoon will do that. They might assist by suggesting you print out the order confirmation and contesting the customs charge though.

Can anyone explain the reason behind DVDSOON policy of stating the site price on the packet rather than the price with discount. As surely a customs declaration is the price you paid not the one advertised ? I am asking this because six out of eight box sets have been hit with custom charges. Fed up just a little bit.....

Their reasoning is that value of the package stays the same for non-members and members the like and that they are required by law to state the value.

But they where looking in to it. In the mean time you can always contest the customs charge via the order confirmation details and a copy of the creditcard bill.

You've made me think hard about signing up - maybe we could take a vote! It seems OK for Tony's Britain...

Dvdpacific are a quick and reasonably cheap alternative for REG 1 discs.
