    Hi

I'm trying to find any racks or decent shelving for my DVD collection. At the moment there's a great stack of them under the TV set.

While there are lots of CD racks out there in all sizes and shapes there's bugger all for DVDs.

What do people use and where did they get them?

Or has anyone improvised and built something themselves?

As I'm also transcoding my old VHS onto DVD-R I'm thinking of using a CD holder case/binder. But is there a quality of the material inserts to be aware of and not buy cheap ones? Maplin has a 96 sleeve one on sale for 4.99 at the moment for example. Found some nice hard back vertical ones at pound land but not too sure about using them.

    Comments and tips welcomed.

Well we got a new furniturepeice for the TV that covered the whole sidewall and we got our carpenter to make the drawer so that I can fit my DVDs in there.

I would advise you to get racks though as its very expensive..unless you need a new TV furniture piece.

I just put one coloured wood grained conti-board that happily matches the colour of wall paper. A 4 foot length will take about 60 DVD’s. plus book ends as below.

For my storage I put up some shelves. Each is 3m long, 20cm wide with 7 shelves going from the floor to ceiling. Use it to store all my DVDs, PC CD-ROMs and dwindling VHS collection. Works a treat.

I think your going to be better off with proper cases. I use such a binder for carrying DVDs with me when away on work and I find it's very easy to scratch the DVD quite badly (to the point of it not playing). This is on a PC World DVD binder.

They're available from Argos, think about £11-£17 each. Gonna buy a couple to elevate my centre speaker (and house CD's)

    Hi

Nothing in that price range I could find. Unless it's classed as something else.

Do you have the name or post the link again?

875/7290 - is the cat no £13.79 online, £16.99 in store . Dont know what happened there, you can put them up without the 3 sections in the middle of the shelf as well.

Also worth a look is www.boltz.com for some really superb steel shelving which can be easily expanded.

eg $249(yes dollars) for a rack holding 252 DVDs incl free Fedex shipping to the UK in under a week usually....maybe not as cheap as some, but very nicely made.

    Hi Shoka

Got it to work now. How do they mount on the wall?

Thought I was the only one who knew what Cowboy Bebop was ;-)

The B&Q looks like another option. Could use two of those alongside the closed up fireplace.

Need to get the measuring tape out.

And now of course a decent TV and DVD stand is in order too.

Shoka, what is the exact depth of them shelves? I have exactly 17cm (Kef centre) depth to play around with. They can't be deeper than the centre.

    Thanks

    Hi Shoka

My browser window wasn't that large so didn't see all of it.

Do you have a top ten must have anime and what's the latest that's any good?

Might be worth taking this to e-mail as it's drifted from the shelve Q.
