First post here, think I've got the right forum, I have a Portable Venturer PS166W

    (linky http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...001&langId=-1&catalogId=2501&productId=111763 )

It plays all kinds of discs (I have a region free code) but it won't play DVD+RW's I have burnt on a Goodmans DVDR-300 DVD Recorder, I know it doesn't say it does in the blurb but I can't believe it wont. Prehaps it's a finishing problem or similar ?

    Any help appreciated.

Have you tried burning a DVD -RW.

For me the more supported format is -r and -rw

I would say its a compatibility issue with either your discs or simply the drive wont play them.

    Get some -rws

depends what media you are using also, some lasers are more fussy than others. was going to say about the burn speed but on a stand alone i guess it doesnt record at x8?

and yes dvd-r do seem the most popular although again stand alones mainly just use + media.
    try a more expensive dvd+r
