    I was thinking of getting a second DVD recorder a Philips DVDR610 to go with my Philips DVDR70, but the bad reports on s/w problems and manufactureing faults have put me off.
    Now if I were to get a different make would I have to use different blanks?
    I would like to be DVD+RW, I understand otheres need DVD-RW.
    If the + blank is a Philips only thing I might consider another DVDR70, as there seems to be a few around still.

    Sony DVD recorders also use DVD+RW although to get the full features of the machines you need to use DVD-RW. The Sony's are a significantly better option than Philips DVD recorders anyway.

    No other quality brands use DVD+RW although 'most' DVD recorders will play them.

    DVDR70's still at Amazon UK~£150

    We miss out on a few DVD+RW brands here in the UK..very few LG DR4912's around,no Thomson's and a good looking (spec wise) Grundig just been launched on the continent,(Not to be confused with the crappy Dixons own brand Grundig that was around a year ago.)

    Consider Cambridge Audio's new 57+RWi offering at Richer Sounds.....expensive at £269?

    Yes beware Dixon products with Grundig name on.
    These were made especially for Dixons in France, and never sold in Europe.

    @KDH..
    Off-topic, I know, but... Do you have any idea what happened to the DVDplusRW site? I read a couple of unsubstantiated rumours that it has gone for good, but OTOH it may be that the webhost has broken it again.
