DVD-ROM Region hell! Help!!

Hi all,

I have a DVD ROM in my PC, and have just realised that it is region protected (I thought it was the software not the hardware!).

I have realised in time to lock the drive to region 2 when I wanted it for mainly R1 discs! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Its a billy-no-namer so Im having trouble finding a firmware fix for it. Is there any way I can find out who made the drive?

Please help!

Cheers,

Paul.

What OS are you using?
You should be able to get the name of the drive from within Device Manager. If not there then you'll have to open up your PC and see what it says on the drive.

You might also want to try the following link:
FCC ID Lookup tool

This allows you to look up the FCC ID (American Federal Communications Commission) that is shown on most electronics (probably on the bottom of your mouse!) which will idetify the maker.

Thanks for the info guys. I have found out my drive is;

Artec/Ultima DHI-G40 (16X/40X)

However, the firmware is version 3.5. I can only find patches up to version 1.2!!

Can anyone help please? My only other option is to buy another DVD-ROM which I didn't really want to do....

Cheers!

Paul.
