dvd rom region free?

    hello one and all,can anyone help with the making of my compaq presario 2100 dvd rom drive region free.and can i swap the rom drive for a region free dvd writer and at what cost.

    hmm...how old is that model?...is it a Hitachi GD2000?, better getting a newer one, you can use a piece of software to make it region free, try www.dvdidle.com

    laptop is about 15 months old.and i have no idea on which rom drive is in it. :thumbsup:

    Use device manager, that will give you the exact model number, you can then use a hacked firmware to give you no region limitations.

    Or if you don't want use hacked firmware, I'd recommend AnyDVD. It has a 21 day try b4 buy.

    I use DVD Region Free (I think there is a trial version for download) - no need to change the drive, the software fools it into thinking it is either region free or set to whatever region dvd you want to play.

    i too would recommend dvd region free, i have been using it for over a year with no issues at all :)

    Try AnyDVD as mentioned above, it lets you skip all the copyright/advertising gumph and go straight to the film/main menu when you put a disc in.
