My next upgrade on my pc is a DVD rewriter. Can anyone tell me if they have bought one which they are happy with and would you go for + or - format ?? please take it easy on the price as I am on a student budget.
    Thanks.

For under £200 you can get either the Sony or Pioneer DVD writers that will write to both + & - formats at 4X.
I've not got a DVD writer YET, but when I do in the not too distant future it will probably be the Pioneer A06 as the reviews I have seen give this the best marks.

    I like dual RAM & -R drives.

-R makes compatible DVD authored discs

RAM is great for archiving acting like a small hard drive & if you use caddy RAM discs they will last longer than the other re-writeable formats & allow more re-writes.

I've got the Pioneer DVR106 from Dabs.com for £118 all inclusive. It's OEM which means it comes with no software, but the version that comes with software DVA06 is another £40 and the software is the 'lite' version - Pinnacle software.

I've been real pleased with my Pioneer, it burns to plus and minus DVD's and seems to cope with many brands of blank discs (which some writers don't cope with)
