DVD Recs 5.1, 6.1, 7.1? Confused!

    Thinking of buying Yamaha DSPAX750 A/V Amp. 6.1, 7.1 Brilliant! Cannot find any information on DVD Recorders regarding 6.1 or 7.1. Please help :lease:

    That's because none of them record 5.1, let alone 6.1 or 7.1.

    Looking to play 5.1 or 6.1 with, but not absolutely necessary, 7.1

    DVD Recorders like DVD Players usually have an optical out that pumps out the digital audio bitstream to the AV Receiver. It is whilst this stream of binary information is being processed that the amp decides if it is a 5.1,
    6.1, 7.1 etc signal depending on the flag assigned to the signal. The flag signal is encoded on the disc. So in answer to your question as long as the recorder/player has an optical out then it is down to the reciever to do the conversion to 5/6/7.1.
