At last it seems some manufacturers are waking up to the fact that recording Digital tv onto Digital media via an inbuilt tuner makes a lot more sense than either having to connect an additional tuner or putting up with recording from an Analogue tuner.
I see Philips have introduced their DVDR745/05 model with ilink as well.
Also Sony are bringing out a model but strangely not including the Freeview tuner on the ilink model, just the basic.
What a shame though that both these major manufacturers have failed to include a digital tuner in their hard disk models.
Anybody out there know any other models or prices?
Anyone know what's happening to the Fusion model?

The Sony GXD5000 looks the best at the moment: Sony have fully integrated the 7 day EPG into the functioning of the unit. It should be noted though that all such machines effectively offer the same as a seperate tuner, i.e. none offer lossless recording yet.

Thanks for the info. The Sony GXD5000 does sound good. Does it have ilink?
I can't find any info. on the Sony site.
AV Land has info on the GXD500 which I guess is the same model, but it doesn't mention ilink.
I want to be able to download from my digital camcorder onto dvd and have an integrated digital tuner.

Unbelievable! Having got all fired up to actually be able to buy a dvd recorder with a Freeview tuner and ilink/firewire, I got the new Philips brochure and its NOT in there.
I phoned Philips who told me the DVDR745/05 is NOT on their database and they don't know why it's on the UK Philips internet site!!!
Do any manufacturers actually want to go digital?
Anyone know anything about whats going on? :lease:
