When BST changes to GMT, will a DVD Recorder receive this info via the aerial or do you have to update the time on the recorder?

    I have a Sony 510.

If your DVDR has "Auto Clock" and you have it switched on rather than "Manual" then it will update itself from an analogue broadcast.

note that some sonys & pioneers will only set the 'autoclock' as part of the tuner 'easysetup'... the hxd995 manual is hopeless on this, where earlier pio's have it properly...

My old tosh xs32 does it faultlessly, no DVB needed....
