Can anyone recommend a good decent DVD recorder ?
First decide which format DVD disks you want to use, then we'll give you some advice!
You have to choose between DVD Ram/DVD-R, DVD-r and DVD-RW. Finally, the Philips option of DVD+r and DVD+RW!
BTW I chose the Panasonic and I'm very pleased with the quality of the recordings.
JueUK. I would say that all DVD recorders are decent. It's just that some are more decent than others.
I agree with DaveP you need to decide on a format. I too have the Panasinic which is out of this world but then I am severely biased to that format now. Here are some forum links for you to read about the different formats and peoples experiences.
I have the E20, but if I was in the market for one now I'd wait a few weeks for the Panasonic combined DVD/HD recorder. A real beauty.
Or if you can wait a bit longer I think HD plus DVD recorder will become a standard as JVC and Toshiba are also about to release them (october if you believe the site). I wouldnt be surprised if Phillips and Pioneer follow soon as HD offers Timeslip recording, easy editing and high speed random access which is one of the key differentiators of the DVD RAM over its DVD+-RW counter offerings.
Of course if you have Tivo or sky+ this is irrelevant but having it all in one box makes it much easier and convenient
