Are there any DVD recorders that will play Divx discs please?
Look in the Argos catalogue, a Samsung one playing DivX.
Does anyone know anything about the LG 7500 / LG 7900H
DVD recorder with HDD / larger HDD + HDMI
Anyone with any experience of these? What's the quality like? how about ease of use??
there's also the yamada ones on sale via maplins for 99.00 they write in both + and - formats and play divx files too
I saw a tevion MD 80857 HDD recorder with 160Gb hard disk and divx playback and SCART in and out at aldis yesterday for £229.I wont purchase until I find out more about it from other people. The spec. on the box was very impressive though! Im waiting for feedback. Thanks in advance.Yours stevenpaul.
I bought this one yesterday (DVD-R155), and the divx player is a total waste of time....EVERY divx file I tried played awful so I took it back to argos and swapped it for the Sony RDR-GX350 and it worked a treat......I love my Samsung TV but dont buy any Samusung player if you want to use the Divx function
I just bought the Samsung SH855 and every divx I have tried has played perfectly even some which won't play on my Yamada, Kiss players or Archos 704. Of course you will find some which won't play but not all play on my PC without downloading the correct codec. There is a thread about this machine in this forum and you will find a lot of people are complaining about the faults it has and yes it does have some faults as all player do, but the quality of it recording and the dvd/divx playback in my opinion outways these faults most of which will proberbly be fixed when a firmware upgrade comes out.
Do you mean if?
I have a sh855 i havent be over the moon about this unit since the day i had it, but I just got my self a flash drive 4gb an it works great in the USB port. Just cant get dexter to play which is bugging me.
I've had a Tevion dvd recorder from Aldi and I took it back within a week.
That was a few years ago and things might have changed since but it was bad - really bad.
Noises coming out of the tv when pausing, loads of bugs and the remote was one of the worst I'd seen.
To set the timer you had to go thru 3 menus.
Samsung sh855m - that also went back, horrible and nasty.
LG's are good, the newer one's don't have digital tuners and LG don't plan to include that for a while. They did bring one out a few years ago but it was dis-continued and it was early days for freeview so they probably never sold many.
The LG's normally play anything and you can copy divx/xvid files to hdd.
""LG's are good, the newer one's don't have digital tuners and LG don't plan to include that for a while.""
If Lg have no plans to include digital tuners for a while then I can see no point in buying their dvd recorders because once the analogue signal is switched off in your area they will be next to useless.
I was also under the impression from what I have read and seen on TV that all new TV/DVD recorder were supposed to include freeview tuner.
That's only true if you don't have any other source of digital TV except for your DVD recorder. I've already got Freeview in my TV, a Sky box and a Sky HD box, so I wouldn't consider the fact that an LG DVDR didn't have a Freeview tuner in it as a reason to not buy an LG DVDR. I bought an LG DVDR without a Freeview tuner purely because it was the best DVDR on the market - regardless of its lack of a digital tuner. I've never yet recorded from my LG's analogue tuner. And I know of at least three people who all have DVD recorders but don't actually have a TV aerial connected to the DVDR at all - all recording is done via scart input from Sky box, PVR or STB. From that point of view, the DVD recorder doesn't actually need to have any tuner at all.
The LG's can not play divx from usb but can copy divx to hdd from usb.
They have pip and a good live tv pause function. only 1080i
They won't be totally useless, just no freeview+epg, you can still record externally.
No doubt their next dvd recorders will include it.
but who wants freeview?? you get everything from the net, dont you??? much as 'broadz' said... a lot of my mates do not even have an aerial! - SKY is plenty enough...
Pioneer DVR 545 £210/ DVR 550 £244 at Sound and vision online.
Both play Divx fine.
but can they copy to the HDD??
They can copy Mp3 to the HDD but not Divx.
