Does anyone make a recorder with a digital tuner for Freeview and DivX compatability or are there any on the horizon.
Not really interested in a hard disk option as I've got Sky + and just want something to archive my favourite shows
    Any help gratefully received

I don't think such a machine exists at the moment ... but I wish the manufacturers would hurry up and come out with such a product. Mustek make a DivX/XVid/Mpeg 4 DVD recorder but it has an analogue tuner. Yuk!
I have just returned a Goodmans Freeview DVD recorder to Argos as it was *huge* ... if they could just shrink it and add DivX compatibility I would buy one now.

Does anyone know of manufacturers who are planning to make such a beast?

Wanted to bump this up again to see if anything has changed in the last month or two?

Does anyone know if such a model is about to come out?

    Thanks

I'm also looking for a dvd/hdd recorder with freeview that can play divx. I have $ky but I still want a machine that I can use when analogue get's turned off.

Like a combination of hitachi and pioneer.

Hitachi plays all formats and divx
Panasonic had guide+, freeview, sat control.

All current machines seem to have good and missing features. It's just a matter of waiting.

Maybe it's worth building a cheap pc in a small shuttle case or hifi sized case.
