    Hi

I thought choosing a cheap dvd recorder would be easy, but things never are!

I am just looking for a cheapie as I use my Sky+ for normal use. However there are some things on the box that I would like archive off. So, in theory easy eh?!

    well, these are the restrictions:

RGB in, as I will be recording from Sky+
I think I need it to be able to write in +r/+rw as there are times I will want to watch it on my laptop
Will I be able to daisy chain in through my sky box to my plasma as it only has one scart input? if not, then I would like compononent output

    not much eh?!

Budget is upto 200, but less would be better!!

    Thanks

Panasonic DMRES10 fits your requirements. You can daisy chain the RGB from Sky+ through it; it also has component output, so you have a choice. Price is around £200.

However, I'd consider spending an extra hundred or so and getting one with a HDD. I know your Sky+ has a HDD, but with a DVD/HDD it is much more flexible and powerful; you can edit out adverts, re-encode to fit more on a disc if you need to, etc. Panasonic DMREH50 or Toshiba XS34 are just over £300....
