Hi I have TV Thomson with 3 scart (2 RGB +1), a DVD player "Alba" with 1 scart and 1 DVD Recorder "PLU2 RECMASTER 9000" with 1 scart. I'm trying to connect everything to SKY (2 scart: TV & VCR). My connections are: TV scart 2 (RGB) to SKY (TV scart) SKY (VCR scart) to DVD Recorder TV scart 1 (RGB) to DVD PLayer. My problem is my DVD recorder doesn't find the SKY signal, so I can't record anything, I can't watch TV channels through the DVD recorder. In the DVD Recorder options, The DVD can seek channels via cable or antenna, so I'm not sure if this will be the problem or maybe the problem is my connections. Can Anyone help me? Many Thanks.
I can't find out anything about a PLU2 Recmaster 9000 as Google turns up a blank. I did find a PLU2 made by someone else though and although that one has a single scart socket it is marked for output only.
Thaks Ian for your Reply. The DVD is From Germany and you can find it at http://www.selectronica.de (they have an english option for that Website) As you said, this DVD recorder only has 1 scart socket to connect it to TV. Have you got any idea how to connect the DVD to Sky to be able to record? My last connection is: TV scart 1 to Sky TV scart 2 to DVD recorder aerial lead from TV to DVD Recorder With this connection I only can watch 5 channels (without sound), thanks to the aerial, but I can't tune SKY yet. Many thanks Roger
Hi Roger From the site we've got: Entrances: In front: S-video, RCA A/V In the back: S-video, CVBS, audio in, RF into (antenna) Exits: Scart, RF out (antenna), Component video YCbCR, Cvbs, s-video, 6 channel Dolby digitally DTS Digital exits: optically, coaxially I'm assuming CVBS is Composite Video which should be a yellow phono(?) and I expect the audio-in is 2 phonos - 1 red and 1 white. If so, you'll need a scart (from Sky) to 3 phono (into DVD Recorder) cable. Alternatively you can get a scart (from Sky) to S-Video and 2 phono (into DVD Recorder) cable.* Not sure which will give the best picture though. -- Edward * Not sure whether you need scart -> svideo or scart -> svideo & 2 phono Maplins do both - I don't use svideo myself, so I'm assuming the svideo only cable doesn't carry audio but could be wrong.
The Sky box won't output S-video pictures so all you will get is black and white pictures at most iof you try and connect it up that way. If the translation is correct it looks like the input from Sky will have to be with a composite connection which will probably result in a fairly poor quality and disappointing picture.
Hi HarshKarma Thanks for replying to my enquiery. I've tried what you said, I connected SKY and DVD Recorder using : From SKY ---> scart To DVD Recorder ---> Audio/Video lead (White, Yellow & White) And Everything works now. My connections are: * Scart lead from TV to DVD Recorder * Scart lead from TV to SKY (TV socket) * Scart-A/V (White, Red and Yellow) from SKY (VCR socket) to DVD recorder scart socket. * A/V - A/V lead from DVD player to DVD Recorder * Scart lead from DVD player to TV Thanks for your help cheers Roger
Hi Ian I've sorted my problem out connecting DVD Recorder and SKY with a Scart-A/V lead (White, Red and Yellow). My connections are: * Scart lead from TV to DVD Recorder * Scart lead from TV to SKY (TV socket) * Scart-A/V (White, Red and Yellow) from SKY (VCR socket) to DVD recorder scart socket. * A/V - A/V lead from DVD player to DVD Recorder * Scart lead from DVD player to TV Thanks a lot for your help Cheers Roger
It's a shame that your DVD recorder only has the one scart socket as the Sky box will output an RGB signal via the scart lead but your recordings will be from a composite signal which offers much poorer quality. I really don't understand why anyone would sell a DVD recorder with only one scart socket as it defies logic
