I know this must have been asked before, but I just can't find anything.

I am looking for a DVD recorder with freeview in the £200-250 region or cheaper, I was hoping to get the panny ES20 free with my pe50 but it was not to be.

So is the ES20 the best one for around this price, I will be using it to record tv shows mainly, like a normal VHS recorder, I do my DVD back ups on the PC. So either a DVD recorder with using RAM discs or one with a HDD, I would also like it to have a component out.

    Thanks

Panasonic EH50? Slightly above your price but a great machine with RAM and 80GB HDD.

    The EH50 doesn't have Freeview.

The cheapest price I can see is £266, but it doesnt have a digital tuner. Can I record from the digi tuner on my tv if I connect with a scart.
I do have a sky box but I was looking to cancel with them and just use freeview.

Sorry, didn't notice the Freeview bit.
Don't think there is a recorder available with Freeview, RAM, HDD and component for that sort of ££££.
Yes you can record via a Freeview Tuner in the TV (if it supports Smartlink or Q-link then you should be able to set it to record via its EPG).
I've got the EH60D and it is fantastic. I've also got an iDTV but the integration of having the built-in Freeview is great.
Save up a bit and get the EH60D? ;)

cancel the sky but keep the box, that acts as a freeview tuner too, altho i think u need a card for the ITV channels, but its only a tenner or £20 i think....altho i could be wrong on all this...lol
then buy the ES10 if you just want a basic DVD recorder, only £160 most placed, does DVD-RAM as well as -R and -RW....i got one the other day, seems pretty good so far...

No, you don't get the same channels with Sky but no subscription.
    No ITV2 for example.

    SJW,

thanks for this, the 42PE50 does support Q-link in the AV3 scart, can I connect the DVD with both the component/audio cables and a Scart cable, Will this work if I want to watch a dvd through component and be able to record via scart, Obviously not at the same time though.
