Hi, I have neither, and i want to get rid of my old DVD/Video combi. If I get sky + can I record freeview channels or is it better to get a DVD recorder? I am not familiar with either and appreciate all opinions. Steve

They are completely different beasts of course (hard drive Vs. DVD).

However, the recording/playback facilities of Sky+ cannot be used unless you continue to pay Sky (either for 2 premium channels or a £10 per month separate charge). So you could end up with a very expensive doorstop!
