You can get multi-region DVD recorders - it is best to buy a pre-multi-region modified one prior to purchase though.

Cheap rubbish - no RGB input, only DVD+RW/+R recording, cheap build etc. Much better available. Have a look at the 'Which DVD Recorder?' link in my signature for an introduction to DVD recorders. And may I suggest you buy whatever machine you pick online - you'll save a fair amount of cash. Some good (IMHO) online suppliers:

    http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk

    http://www.multiregionmagic.co.uk/

    http://www.avland.co.uk/

I would avoid that model as well :) Whilst it is an excellent DVD recorder and player it suffers from an RGB pass through problem that will ruin your enjoyment if you want to record from Sky/Freeview/Cable. The previous Sony models are fine (GX300/GXD500/GX700 but they have all been discontinued now). The Panasonic ES10 is a good choice of a similar callibre.

There is a thread about it on the DVD recorders forum. Probably best you read that rather than me summerising it.
