Ok, here's what I want to do...

Take DVD-RAM discs burned on my Panasonic DMR-E30, edit the video on my PC and burn to a DVD-R (for example - I would use this method to put the new series of Friends onto DVD-R having removed all the adverts and added some menus)

What software do I need on my PC to edit the footage from the DVD-RAM discs? What conversions do I need to go through? Will I be left with a perfect copy after editting?

In case anybody is interested I will be using the new Toshiba SD-M1712 DVD-ROM drive to read the info off the DVD-RAM discs - you can get this drive from dabs.com for under £40 - very handy.

    Many thanks,

    Dave

trying to decide between the panny and philips systems

your idea is ideal for me, but i do not have a dvd writer on PC

you say you have got a DVD-ROM drive for £40 from DABs to read the disks but what are you going to use to burn onto dvd-R

do you need two separate drives?
