I have both a panasonic E-95 and the dmr-hs2 I bought a pack of panasonic dvd-ram disks (non cartridge 3x speed) and although they work fine on the E-95, I cannot use them to record on the dmr-hs2 although I can view the recordings made, I cannot dub them to the hard drive or record anything new onto them I just get an error message saying this is a non recordable disk!

I tried formatting them on the 95 to use on the other recorder and doesn't work.

Is it because they are 3xspeed?

bit annoyed because i thought they would be compatable :lease:

Edit - Just found a firmware update for the HS2 on the panasonic usa website, would this help?

Believe it or not, I had just this problem with Panasonic RAM discs.

I was shocked when I rang the Panasonic helpline and was advised to source Maxell RAM discs.

Very, very hard to find but ebay helps.

    Maxell's worked fine and dandy.

Answers on a postcard? Well, here will do.

cheers, will keep an eye out on ebay they has some but weren't recommended for home dvd-recorders.

Had a look at pannys shop website incase they sold 1xspeed ram disks for compatability and all their ram disks are 3x speed

The ones I couldn't use were:

    LM-AF120LE5

    2 to 3x speed, 120 min 5-pack, from
    argos.

Think that most of the DVD-RAM discs are 3x nowadays. You can purchase cheaper than Argos.

Blankdiscshop have spindles of ten dvd-ram discs
at £14-99. Two different makes just as good as Panasonic or Maxell. There isn't all that much difference in dvd-ram quality between different makers. Postage is £4-99 for next day delivery so now is a good chance to also purchase some DVD-R discs.
