I've had a Daewoo DF-4150P for some time now, though rarely record to disc. The machine has a 'Finalise' option for DVD+R and 'Make Compatible' option for DVD+RW. Does this mean that when I use these options once I've finished recording that these discs can be played on any machine?

It depends on wether the other machines will read +r or not. None of my DVD players will play anything recorded on a mate's +R recorder.

+RW recordings will usually play fine on any DVD player, and +RW discs have a wider compatibility than +R discs. If you make edits compatible on a +RW, chapter marks will be noticed and the hidden sections (ie adverts) will remain so.

On the other hand, +R chapters will not be recognised on other players, even after finalising.

Unless you burn +R on a PC with a DVD-ROM booktype, you should stick to +RW for material you want to share around.
