Ok...................I've just copied a number of family videos onto DVD-R for my in-laws using my recently acquired Toshiba RDXS34.

My big mistake was that I didn't RTFM.

As a result they are unable play said DVDs on their machine. Grrrrrrrr......

It transpires that after RTFM that I did not finalize the damned thing after recording them.

What I would like to know is................can the in-laws finalize them on their DVD player, an Alba, or will I have to do it on mine.

Only a DVD recorder will finalize them, it cant be done in a player.

You're best bet is to get them back and do it on the machine that originally recorded them as anything else may cause problems.

You may find that they still will not play reliably on their DVD players. Some cheapo DVD players just don't like DVD-Rs, as I have found to my cost.
